Year of the Lord's favor applied to Messianic proclamation in Rabbinic commentary
Isaiah spoke of a coming 'year of the Lord's favor'—a time of divine grace and restoration. When Jesus read this passage in Nazareth, he stopped mid-sentence, omitting the phrase about 'the day of vengeance.' His first coming was about grace, not judgment. The year of favor had arrived in person, and all who would receive it were welcome.
Lord Jesus, shape my daily life after Your ministry. As Isaiah 61:2 meets Luke 4:19, teach me to serve with compassion and truth.
