Lesson 187LineageMessianic Psalm

Throne of His Body

Psalm 132 affirms the unconditional nature of the Davidic covenant — God swore an oath that David's bodily descendant would occupy his throne.

Old Testament

Psalm 132:11

The LORD swore an oath to David, a sure oath he will not revoke: 'One of your own descendants I will place on your throne.'

New Testament

Acts 2:30

But he was a prophet and knew that God had promised him on oath that he would place one of his descendants on his throne.

Why This Matters

Psalm 132 affirms the unconditional nature of the Davidic covenant — God swore an oath that David's bodily descendant would occupy his throne. Peter at Pentecost declared that Jesus' resurrection fulfilled this oath, establishing the Davidic heir on an eternal throne beyond the reach of death.

Reflection

Father, You kept every genealogical promise. Let Psalm 132:11 fulfilled in Acts 2:30 assure me that Your word never fails.
