Lesson 186IdentityMessianic Psalm

Blessed Is He Who Comes

Psalm 118 was sung at Passover as pilgrims processed to the temple.

Old Testament

Psalm 118:26

Blessed is he who comes in the name of the LORD. From the house of the LORD we bless you.

New Testament

Matthew 21:9

Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest heaven!

Why This Matters

Psalm 118 was sung at Passover as pilgrims processed to the temple. When the crowd greeted Jesus with these exact words on Palm Sunday, they were identifying him as the expected king coming in God's name — a fulfillment the religious leaders understood immediately.

Reflection

Lord Jesus, as I study Blessed Is He Who Comes, anchor my identity in You, the promised King revealed from Psalm 118:26 to Matthew 21:9.
