Lesson 192ResurrectionProphetic Pattern

Raised on the Third Day

Hosea's prophecy of revival after two days and restoration on the third established a prophetic pattern that Jesus directly cited.

Old Testament

Hosea 6:2

After two days he will revive us; on the third day he will restore us, that we may live in his presence.

New Testament

Luke 24:46

He told them, "This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day,"

Why This Matters

Hosea's prophecy of revival after two days and restoration on the third established a prophetic pattern that Jesus directly cited. When He explained the Scriptures after His resurrection, He pointed to this very pattern — that it was written the Messiah would rise on the third day. This is one of the most direct prophetic anticipations of the resurrection in the entire Old Testament.

Reflection

Lord of Life, where I feel weary, breathe new courage into me. Let Hosea 6:2 and Luke 24:46 remind me death is not the end.
