Why This Matters

Galilee was a region looked down upon—remote, mixed with Gentile populations, and historically humbled by foreign invaders. Yet Isaiah said this despised region would be the first to see a great light. When Jesus began his public ministry in Galilee, Matthew recognized the fulfillment: hope dawned first in the place least expected.

Reflection

Savior, open my eyes to the people around me. As You fulfilled Isaiah 9:1-2 in Matthew 4:16, make me faithful in small acts of love.
