Old Testament

Isaiah 53:12

Therefore I will give him a portion among the great, and he will divide the spoils with the strong, because he poured out his life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors. For he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

New Testament

Romans 8:34

Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.

Which New Testament passage fulfills this prophecy in this lesson?

Part 2 - Fill In The Blank
Why This Matters

Isaiah said the Servant would make intercession for the transgressors. Paul declares in Romans that Christ—having died, risen, and ascended—now sits at God's right hand interceding for us. Jesus' work did not end at the cross or even at the resurrection. Right now he is actively praying for his people, turning Isaiah's ancient promise into a present, living reality.

Reflection

Lord of Life, where I feel weary, breathe new courage into me. Let Isaiah 53:12 and Romans 8:34 remind me death is not the end.
