Payne #39 — Isa 53:12
Numbered with transgressors; Payne connects this to crucifixion between rebels as literal fulfillment
This lesson explores how Isaiah 53:12 connects to Jesus.
Therefore I will give him a portion among the great, and he will divide the spoils with the strong, because he poured out his life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors. For he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
They crucified two rebels with him, one on his right and one on his left.

Numbered with transgressors; crucifixion unknown in Jewish law — Blinzler cited
Isaiah prophesied that the Servant would be numbered with the transgressors—counted among criminals. At the crucifixion, Jesus was placed between two rebels, literally numbered among lawbreakers. He who had no sin was treated as if he were the worst of sinners, fulfilling Isaiah's words and taking on the full weight of human guilt.
Lord Jesus, Your suffering was not wasted. As I read Isaiah 53:12 and Mark 15:27, make me reverent before the cost of my redemption.
