Why This Matters

Isaiah heard a voice calling for a highway to be built in the wilderness for God. Matthew identifies John the Baptist as that voice—preparing the way not through road construction but through calling people to repentance. Before the King arrives, hearts must be made ready. John's wilderness preaching leveled the mountains of pride and filled the valleys of despair.
