Three Days in the Deep
Jonah's three days in the belly of the great fish became, in Jesus' words, a sign pointing directly to his own death and resurrection.
Jonah 1:17
Now the LORD provided a huge fish to swallow Jonah, and Jonah was inside the fish three days and three nights.
Matthew 12:40
For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
Jonah's three days in the belly of the great fish became, in Jesus' words, a sign pointing directly to his own death and resurrection. Just as Jonah emerged alive after three days in the deep, Jesus would emerge alive from the tomb. What seemed like the end of Jonah's story was actually a rescue—and the same pattern held true at Easter.
Risen Jesus, fill me with resurrection hope. Through Three Days in the Deep, teach me to live in the light of Your victory.
