Lesson 181PassionMessianic Psalm

They Wagged Their Heads

The psalmist described onlookers shaking their heads in contempt.

Old Testament

Psalm 109:25

Those who see me shake their heads.

New Testament

Matthew 27:39

Those who passed by hurled insults at him, shaking their heads.

Why This Matters

The psalmist described onlookers shaking their heads in contempt. Matthew records the same scene at Calvary — passersby hurled insults and shook their heads at Jesus. The psalm was a script, and the cross was its stage.

Reflection

Lord Jesus, Your suffering was not wasted. As I read Psalm 109:25 and Matthew 27:39, make me reverent before the cost of my redemption.
