Lesson 57IdentityDirect Prophecy

The Lord Our Righteousness

Jeremiah gave the coming king a remarkable name: 'The LORD Our Righteousness.' Paul explains that Christ has become our righteousness—not a righteousness we earn but one we receive.

Old Testament

Jeremiah 23:6

In his days Judah will be saved and Israel will live in safety. This is the name by which he will be called: The LORD Our Righteous Savior.

New Testament

1 Corinthians 1:30

It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.

Why This Matters

Jeremiah gave the coming king a remarkable name: 'The LORD Our Righteousness.' Paul explains that Christ has become our righteousness—not a righteousness we earn but one we receive. We cannot make ourselves right before God, but Jesus can. He is the righteous king Jeremiah promised, and his righteousness becomes ours through faith.

Reflection

Jesus, teach me to trust who You are, not just what I feel. Let Jeremiah 23:6 and 1 Corinthians 1:30 deepen my confidence in Your name.
