Servant as light to nations applied to Messianic era in Targum and Midrash
This lesson explores how Isaiah 42:6 connects to Jesus.
I, the LORD, have called you in righteousness; I will take hold of your hand. I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people and a light for the Gentiles,
a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel.

Servant as light to nations applied to Messianic era in Targum and Midrash
Isaiah described God's Servant as a covenant for the people and a light for the Gentiles. When Simeon held the infant Jesus in the temple, he recognized him as this promised light—a revelation not just for Israel but for all nations. God's salvation was never meant for one people alone; from the beginning, the Messiah was destined to illuminate the whole world.
Jesus, send me with Your heart for people. Let Light to the Nations move me from admiration into obedience.
