Free the Captives
Isaiah foresaw a deliverer who would call captives out of darkness into freedom.
Old Testament
Isaiah 49:9
to say to the captives, "Come out," and to those in darkness, "Be free!"
New Testament
Luke 4:18
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free.
Why This Matters
Isaiah foresaw a deliverer who would call captives out of darkness into freedom. Jesus read these words in the Nazareth synagogue and declared them fulfilled in Himself — He is the liberator Isaiah promised.
Reflection
Lord Jesus, shape my daily life after Your ministry. As Isaiah 49:9 meets Luke 4:18, teach me to serve with compassion and truth.
