Lesson 190KingdomDirect Prophecy

Every Knee Shall Bow

Through Isaiah, God swore an irrevocable oath that every knee would bow to Him alone.

Old Testament

Isaiah 45:23

By myself I have sworn, my mouth has uttered in all integrity a word that will not be revoked: Before me every knee will bow; by me every tongue will swear.

New Testament

Philippians 2:10–11

that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Why This Matters

Through Isaiah, God swore an irrevocable oath that every knee would bow to Him alone. Paul applies this oath directly to Jesus — at His name every knee in heaven, earth, and under the earth will bow. What God declared of Himself, the apostle declares of Christ.

Reflection

King eternal, let the promise in Isaiah 45:23 fulfilled in Philippians 2:10–11 stir in me longing for Your return and the restoration of all things.
