Payne #9 — Ps 2:6–7
God's king installed on Zion; You are My Son declared at coronation; fulfilled at baptism and resurrection
This lesson explores how Psalm 2:7 connects to Jesus.
I will proclaim the LORD's decree: He said to me, "You are my son; today I have become your father."
And a voice from heaven said, "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased."

Quoted as Messianic in Talmud (Sukk. 52a); Father's declaration at baptism
In Psalm 2, God declares 'You are my son' to his anointed king. At Jesus' baptism, the Father's voice from heaven echoed those very words. This was not merely a title of honor but a declaration of divine identity—the eternal Son stepping into his public mission, affirmed by the Father himself.
Jesus, teach me to trust who You are, not just what I feel. Let Psalm 2:7 and Matthew 3:17 deepen my confidence in Your name.
