Payne #14 — Ps 22:18
Garments divided and lots cast; Payne cites John 19:24 as word-for-word fulfillment
This lesson explores how Psalm 22:18 connects to Jesus.
They divide my clothes among them and cast lots for my garment.
"Let's not tear it," they said to one another. "Let's decide by lot who will get it." This happened that the scripture might be fulfilled that said, "They divided my clothes among them and cast lots for my garment." So this is what the soldiers did.

Garments and lots within the Messianic Psalm 22; cited in Rabbinic writings on Messiah's derision
David described enemies dividing his clothing and gambling for his garment. At the cross, Roman soldiers did exactly that—splitting Jesus' outer garments among themselves and casting lots for his seamless undergarment. John saw this happen and recognized it as Scripture fulfilled, a small, precise detail that no human conspiracy could have staged.
Crucified Savior, let Garments Cast Lots humble me. Teach me to hate sin, love holiness, and trust Your mercy fully.
