Payne #10 — Ps 16:10
Not abandoned to grave nor decay; Payne cites Peter's Pentecost sermon as definitive interpretation
David expressed confidence that God would not let his 'faithful one' see decay.
because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, nor will you let your faithful one see decay.
Seeing what was to come, he spoke of the resurrection of the Messiah, that he was not abandoned to the realm of the dead, nor did his body see decay.
David expressed confidence that God would not let his 'faithful one' see decay. Since David himself died and was buried, Peter argued at Pentecost that David was speaking prophetically about the Messiah. Jesus' resurrection proved that death could not hold him—God's Holy One would never see corruption in the grave.
King eternal, help me walk in resurrection power today - with joy, endurance, and holy expectation.
