Old Testament

Zechariah 3:8

Listen, High Priest Joshua, you and your associates seated before you, who are men symbolic of things to come: I am going to bring my servant, the Branch.

New Testament

because of the tender mercy of our God, by which the rising sun will come to us from heaven

Part 2 - Fill In The Blank
Why This Matters

Zechariah announced the coming of God's servant, called 'the Branch'—a title laden with messianic meaning. Zechariah the priest, father of John the Baptist, echoed this when he praised God for the 'rising sun' from heaven. The Branch imagery speaks of new growth from David's line—fresh, living, fruitful. In Jesus, the royal line that seemed cut off sprouted to life again.

Reflection

Lord, as I reflect on My Servant, the Branch, make me steady in faith, humble in spirit, and rooted in Your unchanging identity.
