Payne #28 — Isa 28:16
Tested cornerstone laid in Zion; Payne links this cornerstone to Ps 118:22 and Isa 8:14 as a stone trilogy
This lesson explores how Isaiah 28:16 connects to Jesus.
So this is what the Sovereign LORD says: "See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who relies on it will never be stricken with panic."
For in Scripture it says: "See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame."

The Life and Times of Jesus the Messiah • Appendix IX
Cornerstone in Zion applied to Messiah by Targum; noted by Rashi; Messiah as crown of glory (Isa 28:5)
Isaiah described God laying a tested cornerstone in Zion—a sure foundation that would never fail. Peter identifies Jesus as that cornerstone, chosen and precious. In a world of shifting ground, Jesus is the one foundation that holds. Everyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame, no matter what storms come.
Lord, as I reflect on Cornerstone, make me steady in faith, humble in spirit, and rooted in Your unchanging identity.
