Lesson 44IdentityDirect Prophecy

Cornerstone

Isaiah described God laying a tested cornerstone in Zion—a sure foundation that would never fail.

Old Testament

Isaiah 28:16

So this is what the Sovereign LORD says: "See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who relies on it will never be stricken with panic."

New Testament

1 Peter 2:6

For in Scripture it says: "See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame."

Why This Matters

Isaiah described God laying a tested cornerstone in Zion—a sure foundation that would never fail. Peter identifies Jesus as that cornerstone, chosen and precious. In a world of shifting ground, Jesus is the one foundation that holds. Everyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame, no matter what storms come.

Reflection

Christ our King, when my identity feels uncertain, remind me that Your promises in Isaiah 28:16 stand fulfilled in 1 Peter 2:6.
